I agree with you that spyware, adware, and malware are becoming more and more
common unfortunately on the Internet. I have installed scanning software that
scans for spyware and adware on my computer. You have to be careful though
because some of these programs are just spyware disguised. When I run these
programs I have to admit that I am surprised at how many are found. Especially
after I download something like a free messenger. I think I found at least 5
spyware/adware programs after downloading just one program!

  Hi Everyone!!
I chose to do my societal issues paragraph about adware, spyware, and malware.
I think at one time or another we have all fallen prey to one or the other of
these. I remember once my son went to awebsite for playstation game cheat
codes, after he was done, there was an alligator in my icon tray. Come to find
out this was a form of spyware. I had to get a professional to get it off. I
still dont know what the name of that was but it just almost ruined my hard
drive!!! Here is some information I discovered about adware, spyware, and
malware.
Adware or advertising-supported software is any software package which
automatically plays, displays, or downloads advertising material to a computer
after the software is installed on it or while the application is being used.
Spyware works like adware but is usually a separate program that is installed
unknowingly when you install another freeware type program or application. Once
installed, the spyware monitors user activity on the Internet and transmits
that information in the background to someone else. Spyware can also gather
information about e-mail addresses and even passwords and credit card numbers.
Malware is short for malicious software and is a term used to refer to any
software designed to cause damage to a single computer, server, or computer
network. Besides invading your privacy, malware can take over your computer and
wreak havoc with your data. Software is considered malware based on the
perceived intent of the creator rather than any particular features. It
includes computer viruses, worms, Trojan horses, spyware, adware, and other
malicious and unwanted software. Malware should not be confused with defective
software, that is, software that has a legitimate purpose but has a harmful bug
attached.
Below you can find some really good web links to read more about these 3 forms
of intrusions on the internet. Luckily there have been programs developed today
to stop this. There are spyware and adware scanners that you can install on
your computer to fight these bugs. They work just like a virus program.
