http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spam_(e-mail) Above is a link that gives the deffinition of spam. Spam is a huge problem on the internet and is growing every day. Currently I recieve about 20 messages a day that could be classified as spam. Spam is basically any unsolicited emails that your recieve that you did not want. If it were not required for this class I would consider all the listerv emails spam. There are many ways to help defeat spam, none of wich are perfect. Many web based email systems have spam built in. At Farm Bureau Insurance where I work we have appliances (servers with propietary software) that block incoming spam. However these appliances sometimes block messages that you would like to recieve and miss ones that you dont. Spam will never be stopped, but with advances in technology we can deal with it better.
