Strange as it may seem, I get very little spam. I have a new ISP which may
explain why, but even before I changed ISPs I didn't get much spam. I have
yet to get any spam in my Yahoo email account that most of my Yahoo groups
emails are sent. I change my email address fairly often for my email
address on my site, and the address is in a gif file so that helps too. I
have several throw away accounts I use for signing up for sites that require
it, but most of the time if a site wants my email address I just click the
forget it button and go on my way. I still have IHateSpam in a box that has
never been opened, simply because I don't need it. I did try that spam
program that Linda uses, Spam Detective, it slowed down my Outlook so quit
using it. So I wouldn't be a good tester!

Mike,
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my request. I do understand your
concerns regarding challenge-response based software. Although I can speak
positively of our product and give you assurance that it is used solely for
fighting SPAM and not to collect email addresses, your level of trust in my
intentions is the deciding factor.
Question: How does one get removed from your black list?
Answer: Once a successful reply to our validation request (challenge) is
received, that user's email address is automatically removed from the black
list and any pending emails from that user are delivered to your Inbox.
Question: How easy it is for a subscriber to add members/groups/list to
your/their
white list?
Answer: Our software allows you to use keywords in addition to email
addresses for the white list. You simply add the newsletter name to your
white list as a "keyword" and all future newsletter emails are automatically
received. Entire domains can also be white listed. You can also black list
an entire domain and then white list individual addresses from within that
domain.
I hope I've answered your questions. If you have any others, please feel
free to ask. I do understand your concerns and appreciate your efforts in
trying to learn more about our product.
Thank you,
Brent Spencer

Hi Brent,
can you give me some more details of how your system works?
I am currently unsub scribing many people from various help groups I
moderate on as the Spam filtering (spamrival.com & Spam Arrest) they use
require that I respond to there challenge.
If someone is interested enough to join a group for support, every member of
the group should not be challenges.
I'm personally aware of 3 cases where people who own newsletters have
replied to these challenges in which they are assured that they will only
have to sign up one time, but continue to be challenged.
I fear that these programs may be used to collect good addresses to sell to
other list to perpetuate more spam.
spamrival.com is another similar program
"I think I even wrote a RANT about Spam Arrest for ABC once<BG>
http://personal-computer-tutor.com/abc3/v29/mike29.htm
Spam Arrest Is Just Another Form Of Spam
SNIP
They rank right up there with the 'out of office replies' that periodically
start coming into the groups."
How does one get removed from your black list?
How easy it it for a subscriber to add members/groups/list to your/their
white list?
Any information you can provide may help us evaluate your product.
I moderatate on several help and support groups.
Mike ~ It is a good day if I learned something new.
