[chadfree] Re: Photo program question

Then atleast I got you right :)

Well ... JPEG doesn't support transparency in any form. So the trick you do
is to cut the picture out, then use your website background for the
background of the image, and place your cutout on that, and then save the
image that way. I don't know how wildly the JPEG2000 format is supported
yet, I haven't done any tests with it yet, but it would be your best bet to
do what you want the easiest way. ... But otherwise, the only way to do
what you want is to put the site background into the image ... That's also
the reason why most picture sites have monocolor backgrounds... Another
trick some sites use is to simply cut the image up into smaller pieces, and
then use HTML tables to put the image back together. And have the table
filled with the site background. It's a more tricky way to do it, and not
one I recommend ... (it just looks wrong, that's all).

The photo editors, well the better ones anyway, does have the option of
removing the background. The problem is when you want to save it in a way
so that others can see it. Since there's only 4 image formats for the web,
you'll have to do a few tricks to get it to look how you want....
