It sounds as if:
1. You aren't uploading the pictures to your webserver. Probably unlikely but check. 2. You are referencing the background pictures as if they are on your hard drive rather than on your website. (C:\example dir\example.pic vs. http://mywebsite.com/pics/example.pic)
