I am partial to Asus motherboards and use them whenever I can, which is
99% of the time. For a good basic board, I like the A7V8X-X. The only
problems I've had is getting a Sapphire ATI 9200SE to run under Win2K on
that board with a XP2000+ CPU. Ran fine under WinXP but just couldn't
get it to go under Win2K. Wound up using an nVidia card instead.
