I'm allowed to run linux at work.....so i'd start an update, then have
to interrupt to shutdown (or suspend) to pack up and go somewhere, to
then repeat the vicious cycle.

man, all this talk about gentoo is making me nostalgic, now i must
resist the urge to give it another go! arrrrghh.....
