To answer that question: qcad seems like it would be a good bet.
But to ask another question: do we need another drafting program?
I realize that there will always be a need for drawing quick 2-dimensional=
=20
drawings, but I think that most industries draw way too many pictures when =
3D=20
modeling tools are available and better suited.
If you are drawing laser-cut plastic signs or some other 2D product, sure. =
If=20
you are designing a building or an automobile, you should really be doing=20
more than drafting.
There are plenty of modelers available, and also plenty of drafting program=
s. =20
If you are looking for an interface-compatible replacement for AutoCAD, may=
be=20
an openCascade app with a TK interface would be the best starting point. O=
ne=20
of the problems with most modelers is that they don't have a quick interfac=
e=20
for drawing construction geometry and annotating drawings. I think a good=
=20
openCascade app built with TK would be a great sketcher/drafting program, a=
nd=20
this would be inherently linked to the 3D capabilities of openCascade (if=20
correctly designed, of course.)
just my 2=A2.
