note that in vi you ca use long_commands_names too. It's just a config
file that assigs cryptic keystrokes to longer commands.

everyone can edit config file, and either assign cryptic keystrokes of
their choice to long_command_names, or even use everytime those long
commands.

or even maybe assign long_commands not to cryptic keystrokes, but to
icons, just like in gvim (graphic version of vi)
