I agree.

But you might get some really good responses.  Further, if this package
has usable components or is a good start to a bigger package, we could
learn from his experience, add some
developers/testers/documenters/troubleshooters and make this our base
package.  I obviously don't know enough about it, but it is active,
which is a good first start.

Useful to both the developer and the user.  You've got the right idea
here.
