[cad-linux] Re: perlcad

By the by, Eric -- as you're providing links to
similar efforts. I often simply assume that everyone
on this list has more links than they know what to do
with. In case I'm wrong, here's another:

Recently, I've joined the effort behind BlenderCAD
[--links to follow though I believe they are repeats
on this group.] The original Blender
modeller/animator is in C or C+ and is very sleek.
BlenderCAD aims to be a Python plugin or series of
same to add CAD functionality. Both Blender and
BlenderCAD are GPL'd.

In the long term, I think the project sought on this
list is the most usable and powerful. But one can't
always afford to operate in the long term. Blender is
already quite usable on its own and has a huge
advantage: "the kids love it!" Ie. lots and lots of
users and wanna-be users; many of whom -- like me --
use it for various architectural tasks.
