[cad-linux] covert idea gathering and 3D file formats

Massimiliano,
My ideal 3D format would consist of an X coordinate, a Y coordinate and Z=0.
I learned engineering back in the days that dinosaurs roamed (or at least
when you went class with a slide rule hung from your belt), and I still
consider the final D in CAD to mean "drafting" not "design." Of course I am
in a quickly shrinking minority as far as that opinion goes.
There are two main reasons I elected to build on the OpenDWG libraries. The
first is that they use a file format more or less "standard" in this country
which happens to include 3D capability. The second reason is that the
libraries have hundreds of built in functions to access and manulipate the
file data - so instead of having to write these functions I can concentrate
on the interface code.
By the way, I visited your Sourceforge site and could not find any code to
download, the message came up as "this project has not released any files
yet." Did I look in the correct location?
Andy
