Just MHO but now is not a great time to pin the tail on Mandrake or is the 
report of chapter 11 just a rumor? If you must pin the development to one 
flavor, at least make sure they're solvent, or at least have a future. OK so 
no Linux companies are exactly making gobs of cash but one would expect RH to 
stay around longer than Mandrake SUSE or United Linux.
We might even consider building the project on Gentoo. I've been running it 
for a couple of weeks now and the users groups are peopled by some pretty 
brilliant people who probably would jump on board
