[cad-linux] UGS to Support Linux

news from WorldCAD Access:

UGS to Support Linux

UGS has plans for running its NX CAD and Teamcenter PM software on 64-bit
Linux -- specifically Novell SUSE Linux Desktop and Enterprise Server 9.

Reasons? One reason is that announcing support for 64 bits is cool.

Another: "Linux offers an excellent migration path for our UNIX customers....
The x64 platform also permits 64-bit applications to address large amounts of
memory facilitating the development of large, complex models. In addition,
since the x64 is backward compatible with the x86 architecture..." says Chuck
Grindstaff, executive vp of PLM Products at UGS.

Expect to see these by the end of 2005, with more software in 2006.
