Why not blend in the nice bits of the GPL? Sorry more vagueness... ok...
What about, (I'm no lawer, this isn't a magic answer, just some ideas)
"anyone who adds to, or changes the code has to make their source code
available, but Autodesk retains the right to withhold its own changes to
the code in order to preserve the integrity of thier commercial
products...."
e.g. you don't have to open source AutoCAD just because you used the
code. Also Autodesk doesn't own peoples changes, but it can see and use
whatever they've done if it feels like. Still a little bad but certainly
better and easier to live with, no worse from Autodesks viewpoint.
"Any changes to the code must include the original licence and are
covered by it."
... more GPL ideas
"The code can be distributed freely, although some credit has to be made
of the use of Autodesks code."
...credit when it's due, this isn't normally a problem in open source
projects, if they've used your code, ask them to say so in the credits.
Does anyone have some (realistic, constructive) licence ideas?
Guy
