[cad-linux] Methods and Mediums (was test)

thanks, but don't misunderstand me.
building and maintaining a community to promote the use and development of CAD
on Linux was the goal.

this list was started because at the time because nothing else existed to fill
that need.
one week i had been swaping emails with a half dozen people about different
projects they were involved with.
i kept thinking, "wow, if only i could get these people to talk to each other."
since then a number of new projects have come into the world because of these
lists. it still has a need.

but if a different medium would benefit everyone better,
than by all means we should move to it.

it's the gathering of ideas and people willing to help others that is magic,
not the medium, or who mods it.

i don't know the typical demographic of our membership, but from what i've read
the younger generations(yes, i'm becoming an old fart) consider things like
email lists obsolete. if we stagnate because we refused to let go of a medium
then we've failed.

i'm not pushing for one method or another, but i do think from time to time we
need to ask everyone what works best for them.

if at anytime creating an IRC channel, a Messageboard, or something else will
bring in more energy or talent then it's time to do so.
splitting the general discussion and the development didn't hurt anything.

forgive the random rant.

Oh I have slipped the surly bonds of DOS
and danced the skies on Linux silvered wings.
