Yes, thats true.

I never used any other kernel.

OpenCascade is quite complex. It does not only provide data structures for 
solid modelling, it also provide a large number of other features like math 
algorithms, 2d data structures, 3d data structures, visualization modules, 
whole application frameworks, import/export, and much more. You'll experience 
a steep learning curve. But once you understand it, it's really powerfull. 
But it also has some weak points. For example, it cannot handle 3d volumes 
defined by a large triangulation very well. (Generating a triangulation of 
existing OC data works well of course).
There is a OC forum on their website (www.opencascade.com). It's worth a try.
