[cad-linux] Re: Any Intellicad progress updates?

i had (cadopia's)icad2001 running for a while but went back to 2000 for my home
use.

at one point i had icad4 running with a mix of xoveroffice and winehq. it ran
but was a nightmare to setup/install, even by my standards. when i went back
to write/update the howto i could not repeat the working installation.

running it is not really the problem, but getting past the installshield. i've
been keeping tabs on wine via their newsletter and they have been making
progress, but many applications still require a native windows installation to
get past the installshield.

without better support from one of the intellicad venders(ie switching to a
different installer) i think it is time for me to take the advise of many on
this list and move on to only native linux applications.

if one of the venders is ready to work with us a little more closely or if
there is a breakthru in Winehq i will dive back into it, but in the mean time
i'm trying to relearn to program. it's been almost 20 years(1984) since i was
in comp-sci and it's been 10 years since my last working code(1993).

i've slept since then.
