yesterday i recomended BMRT to someone for rendering an architechural scene.
afterwards i went and checked their site to see what the current version was
only to find that it had fallen victom to lawyers. BMRT is dead.
Appearently Exluna was too much competition for Pixar.
i did some asking and found that a GPL'd implementation that is alive and
well under the name Aqsis.
The point is an answer to a question that was asked "If there were a state of
the art CAD program that was free, would you really be that much better off
in you profession?"
yes,
I don't mind commercial software, but if it's opensource it leaves fewer
things to worry about. such as whether the company will be there tomarrow
when i another copy.

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of DOS,
and danced the skies on Linux silvered wings.
