Thanks for that Patrick, I managed to complete my first flight now. For some
reason when I landed though engine sound stopped and now I have no engine
sounds, any ideas on how to get in back?

Hi, so here's what I think was happening. As you correctly said, when I said
acknowledge it must've put the simulator into pause mode back on the
flightplan screen. At the time I didn't realise this was was the case and
that's why I was reading through the manuals just to try and find a reason
for it going back to the flightplan screen. Obviously it just went into
pause, so I guess my only question is once this happens how do I get back
onto my active flight screen. I realise now that I should have simply said
report traffic insight at the time. I apologise for making things more
confusing,
Thanks Declan.

Hello Declan,
I was merely responding to your question using the information your
provided as a basis for analysis.
If as you stated, you responded with the phrase "Acknowledge" in response
to an ATC controller indicating that there is traffic nearby, that would
have cause IYP to emit the "1" key which would have selected the option to
[Select a New IFR destination] from the ATC menu. By doing so, the
simulator would have been placed in the pause mode and the "flight plan"
panel would have properly popped-up in order to facilitate IFR selection.
If on the other hand, your would heve responded with (as I stated), "We
have the traffic", or "Traffic in sight", that would have cause IYP to emit
the "2" key (the required response) and the flight would have contined as
normal.
Thus, I am confused by your statement... "I've made sure to read all the
manuals".
Regrettably at this point, I neither know how to proceed, nor how I can
help you.

Hi, I've made sure to read all the manuals, but despite that when ever I

this the game crashing or the aircraft? I can't think of any reason why
the aircraft itself would have crashed, but is that the simulators way
of telling me I crashed the aircraft?

As I believe I stated previously, you really need to go through the

as:
Traffic in the Area
If ATC states that you have traffic in your area, and asks you to report
that you have the traffic in sight, simply say,
"Traffic in sight", or "We have the traffic"
I strongly suggest that, despite your anxious feelings to get airborne,
consider that you're going to be flying a "real airplane". With that
said, you'd never take off without reading ALL of the manuals...
especially the sections involving the extremely complex ATC

Declan,
No, I was talking about the flight file, which is
distinct from the flight plan file. The flight file has a
.flt extension, and are created by the save/load buttons
on the main “free flight,” screen. Those are the buttons
you need to use, not the save/load buttons on the flight
plan screen.

Either screen reader should be okay. YOu probably want
to start from a gate or ramp.
When you create and save your flight, are you then
loading it into the sim again? If you don’t do this,
you will still get your “no flight plan has been
loaded,” message. This is not actually true, as the
“destination work around,” I mentioned previously still
lets you fly and get distance information and so forth.
Best,
Zack.

That's the only reason I can think of why it wouldn't

struggling to get this part to work in the filters

case if one is easier, I have jaws and NVDA.

This is a bit buggy, or at least not as intuitive as
it could be. You've created a flight plan, but you
haven't saved an FSX flight. You can read about the
process in the flight deck document on the IYP site,
or alternatively just say, "Make the destination
airport 'icao code'," which also seems to work.
Personally, I feel like flights are just a little too
cluttered, and I prefer this latter method.

free flight, select the Cessna aircraft and then
select my starting point. I'm not doing a flight

for the scenery to fully load, and i usually get
an engine sound from the aircraft but I have
been told by someone cited that the plane is
currently sitting on the ground. I alt tab to
it's your plane and Mike starts talking,
explaining about me being in the trial version.
Then he says it's your plane we are ready to go,

Hi Declan,
This is probably because you just picked the
type of aircraft you wanted, and not its
location. The default FSX flight starts with
you already in the air.
The solution is to go to the second Change
button, which lets you pick an airport to park
at. The search interface is a bit confusing,
and I usually just memorize the airport ID of
the place I want.
Hope this helps,
Zack.
