Hi,
I'm just about to set up an online flight in the 737, I have checked in the
sound folder and everything seems to be fine, music and all boarding sounds
played perfectly. I will try the volume settings, and also see if Mike makes
flight announcements.

Definitely. These sounds are NOT WMA files... these announcements are made by
the co-pilot. i.e., the same voice that conducts the checklists. The
announcements are dependent on a lot of things. e.g.,
You TOC (top of climb altitude)
Flying over areas with no airports e.g. the Pacific Ocean (lol)
And IYP settings, e.g.,
Activate and deactivate the Flight Following feature
Activate Flight Following
Deactivate Flight Following
Try to force an announcement by saying: "Make a flight following
announcement" to see if it'll work.

I'll look into the boarding sounds. In terms of aircraft, the ones i have
flown that i thought mike should make flight announcements for were the a321
and 737

Hello Declan,
RE: i hear no boarding sounds and iyp doesn't seem to play cabin music when
i ask for it on longer flights
All of the boarding sounds and music are Microsoft WMA type files.
Using your File Explorer, go to Sound folder under the root folder of the
simulator.
If you're using Microsoft's FSX with the default installation settings,
then look here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Sound
If you're using the FSX Steam Edition with the default installation
settings,, then look here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\sound
Look for files starting with the letters..... iyp. e.g., iypboarding.wma
Double click to play the file. If you cannot hear it, then you have a
missing CODEC. If you can hear the contents, then perhaps you have the
sound level turned all of the way down on the IYP control panel. There are
some voice commands you can try using:
Incrementally change the volume up/down
Sound Effects Volume Up
Sound Effects Volume Down
Incrementally change the volume up/down of MP3 music
Music Volume Up
Music Volume Down
Incrementally change the rate of speech faster/slower
Increase Speech Rate
Decrease Speech Rate
RE: mike doesn't make any flight announcments once we have taken off
What aircraft are you flying?
RE: i have some new aircraft downloaded, what's the best way to go about
installing them.

hi, since i started using IYP, i have become much more experienced. I can
now say i can easily do a complete flight almost every time with no major
problems. Along the way i have encountered several interesting problems
and small questions, i have written them in seperate topics but i thought
i'd make a completely new one.
Firstly, my iyp doesn't seem to work too well with passengers. By this i
mean i hear no boarding sounds and mike doesn't make any flight
announcments once we have taken off, for example to let people know we
have reached our cruising e altitude and ground speed etc.
Secondly, i have some new aircraft downloaded, what's the best way to go
about installing them.
Another small thing, possibly related to the passenger problem, iyp
doesn't seem to play cabin music when i ask for it on longer flights for
example. It just gives me one of it's 'funny responses'.
Thanks for any help, none of these are deal breakers but it would be good
to get them sorted especially the passenger problem.Blind and Visually
