Are you running FSX as an administrator? I found that in order for some things
to work right, I had to go into properties and set FSX to always run as
administrator.

Ok, now I am past frustrated and heading straight into pissed off. I took the
following actions:
1. Uninstalled FSX-SE.
2. Deleted all remaining folders throughout my PC, to include program files,
documents, and appdata.
3. Cleaned registry values.
4. Scanned PC for malware, addware, spyware, viruses, etc.
5. Reinstalled FSX-SE through Steam. (Setup also installed SimConnect
versions 10.0.62159.0 and 10.0.62615.0).
6. Reinstalled FSUIPC version 4.964 successfully.
7. Added the everyone user group, and Shared the following folders to that
group, giving full control access to all:
C:\Program Files X86\Steam\SteamApps\common\FSX
c:\users\J-Love\documents\Flight Simulator X Files
C:\Users\J-Love\Appdata\Local\Microsoft\FSX
C:\Users\J-Love\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX
9. Ran FSX-SE, chose Cesna Skyhawk.
10. Started IYP, and got the following message:
Execution Error - 1000: 5
An error occurred while trying to install IYP in the folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Dovetail Games - Flight\Microsoft Flight Simulator X
Steam Edition\ (I can only assume that Steam does not install to any folder
named C:\Program Files (x86)\Dovetail Games - Flight\Microsoft Flight Simulator
X, as I see no such folder within program files X86).
Upon my next attempt to run IYP, I got the following message:
The simulator is running.
No aircraft detected.
...
I do not understand why I am having this much drama. I have never before
encountered this much problem installing this program. I remember installing
this more than once on my other computers, and everything went without a hitch.
I'm not exactly what I would consider a computer dummy. What in the world?

So pardon, but what the fuck is going on? There appears to be no
reason for this. I followed instructions.

Hi,Blind and Visually impaired Pilots mailinglist
Unless I am mistakened, the binary FSX Steam Edition file is supposed
to be installed in the folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\
In Jody's case, it's installed under (and I am going by memory)...
C:\Program Files (x86)\DoveTail Games\blah, blah, blah...
In addition, when saving a Flight Plan and a Flight from within FSX,
it appears as though the files are being saved under a different user
name.
Basically, it looks nothing like a normal FSX Steam installation.
However, Zack, if you can walk Jody through the steps necessary to
resolve these issues, I would very much appreciate it. You seem to
know a lot more than I on this subject matter.... I'm merely an old
programmers who deals with bits and bytes! (smiles)

Robert and all,
May I ask if this is definitely an FSX Steam issue? I know that the
IYP instructions seem to presume that FSX SE is installed
_alongside_ original FSX. If it isn’t, the folder structure looks a
lot more like original FSX, and consequently folders might not be
where you would expect.
What exactly was missing?
Best,
Zack.

Hi,
Well, there's something amiss with the FSX Steam installation. The
installation process did not create files and folders in the correct
places.
I would highly recommend that you completely unistall and re-install
the Steam Edition using all of th default settings.
BTW..... WARNING: You are dangerously close to running out of disc
space!
Only about 3GB left on your C drive,

To convert your current frustration into an adventure,

asyou
do precisely what Tyler set forth. Go here:

Download the IYP Flight Deck Doc and read the first section

I've found that you don't need to do that with the demo.
As long
loadthe Skyhawk is at an airport parked on a runway or
whereever, IYP should load fine. It'll say that "no flight
plan file has been loaded", but that can easily be fixed
by loading one from the flights
Load option.
