Thanks for that, I also tried verify fuel quantity and then I could read it in 
the simulator as well.

Say fuel quantity to get your fuel in gallons and in liters.  Say fuel
weight to get your fuel in weight in lbs and kgs.

I have been flying the 747 myself and haven't had this thing happening.
