Year 6 Hothersall Lodge

Parents are reminded that the non-returnable deposit of £40.00 is due this
Thursday, 18 October.

Year 6 ? Secondary Admission forms

If your child is in Year 6, parents will have been asked to express all
their Secondary School preferences by either completing an online
application or a paper application. In addition, a supplementary form will
also be required by most Voluntary Aided (Church) Schools and Foundation
(Grammar) Schools.

Paper application forms must be returned to Broad Oak Primary School by
Thursday, 18 October 2007.

Offers of school places will be issued to arrive with all applicants no
later than 1st March 2008.

School Closure for half-term holiday and INSET Day

Please note that school will be closed on Friday, 19 October (INSET day) and
from Monday, 22 October until Friday, 26 October. School will re-open at
8.55am on Monday, 29 October.

Battery Recycling Scheme

Our school is now one of 320 primary schools across Lancashire helping to
divert spent batteries from landfill. Opposite is an indication of which
batteries can be recycled. A battery collection container has been placed
near the school office and any spent batteries you may have can now be sent
into school.

Extra-Curricular School Clubs

Please note that if, for any reason - mainly bad weather - an after school
club has to be cancelled at short notice, we will notify the parents of
those children taking part by text. It is therefore vital that you keep the
school office up to date with any change of mobile phone number.

?Mini Pots of Care?

School is taking part in the Marie Curie Cancer Care initiative ?Mini Pots
of Care?. This involves the children planting and caring for a bulb. The
bulbs and pots are provided by the Charity and children will be shown how to
plant their bulbs in school. Donation envelopes will be given to the
children and we ask that these are returned to school by Friday, 9 November.
Children will take their bulbs home and keep them outside until February
when they will be asked to return them to school. Children who have
successfully cared for their bulb will have the opportunity to take part in
a competition.

Broad Oak Care Club ? Holiday Care Club Arrangements

Please note that a few places are still available for our holiday club.
Please see Mrs Naylor in the school office (afternoons) for details. The
holiday club runs from 9.00 to 4.00pm (Morning Session: 9.00 ? 12.30 and
Afternoon Session: 12.30 to 4.00pm) and a request for a place is made for
both sessions at the same time. Bookings are only made for both sessions
in order that the continuity in provision remains at a high standard. Those
parents that have previously booked with Mrs Naylor can be assured that the
booking is for both a morning and afternoon session.

Dinner Money

Dinner money of £8.00 will be due on Monday, 29 October for the week ending
Friday, 2 November. Parents wishing to pay for the half-term to Christmas
should send in £60.80 (38 dinners @ £1.60). Please make cheques payable to
?Lancashire County Council?.

School Lunch ? Week 1 Beginning 29 October
Please ensure that dinner money is paid on Friday if you want dinners next
week. Only £8.00 per week. Money should be given, via your child, to their
teacher in an envelope marked ?Dinner Money? with their name, class and
