Year 6 End of Key Stage 2 SATs - Next Week
Children in Year 6 are taking a series of tests next week for which they
have been prepared by Mr Bromley.
It is important that all Year 6 pupils:
* are in school for 8.45am every morning.
* Have breakfast!
* Get plenty of sleep during the week!
* Continue to revise using the materials provided (including those on
Learning 24/7).
All children must be present every day. If a child is unwell they must
contact the school as early as possible. It should be reminded that unless
all tests are completed the children will not be given a test level for
their high school or their school record so it is essential your child is in
school at the right time.
Should you have any queries before or during the week you should contact
your child?s class teacher, Mr Bromley.
Year 4 Gym and Netball Festival
On Wednesday afternoons Year 4 receives coaching in Gymnastics and Netball.
To end this series of sessions, Year 4 will be taking part in a Gym and
Netball Sports Festival on Thursday 5 June. It will take place in the
morning at Bamber Bridge Leisure Centre, children returning to Broad Oak for
a brief lunch before going on to their usual swimming session.
As most of the day will be undertaking sports activities, children are
welcome to wear a tracksuit or sweatshirt and jogging pants for the day.
Children may also bring a plain water in a ?sports type bottle?. Transport
will be by coach arranged through the Sports Partnership. Permission has
already been received through the forms sought in September, however, if you
have any queries please raise them with Mrs Ashton, your child?s class
teacher.
Cycling to School
Whilst the building project for the Foundation Stage play area and the final
amendments to the car park are awaiting completion, the contractors have
commissioned back to the school the cycle shelter. This means that we can
now start to use it!!
The school is keen to promote cycling to school but recognises that Pope
Lane is a very busy road. The school has put together a Cycling To School
Policy which is available from the school office or the school website. This
policy is currently in draft form under parental consultation till 12 May,
comments welcomed on the Comments form at the front of the school or the
Comments Form via the school website.
?In all cases, parents are responsible for the safe transport of children to
school. The school has just three rules about cycles that are left on the
School premises and some advice for Parents about safe cycling.? (School
Policy)
Priority for cycle storage is to be determined in the first instance by
frequency of use and then by age of the child. i.e. a child who uses their
cycle daily and is one of the eldest is more likely to be given permission
to store their cycle in the storage facility. Parents must request to have
cycle storage from the school office, signing a copy of the form attached to
this newsletter. Determination as to which children will be given storage
will normally take place every September. In the interim this will take
place in May. A waiting list will be kept if the number of places requested
exceeds the number available. Parents will be informed in writing if
storage is available for your child?s cycle along with a pass that must be
attached to the cycle during storage..
