[Bristol-Birds] what kind of fern is this

I  was hiking in Rocky Fork sunday when my girlfriend and i spotted this fern growing beside a small branch... I was amazed by the size and unique traits this fern has... Ive spent alot of time in the woods of southern Unicoi co. over the  years and ive never seen a fern like this... it appears to have spore stalks unlike most ferns which have the spores on the underside of the leaves... does anyone have a suggestion as to what it is?
I also saw a male Scarlet Tanager up there and was able to show it to her before it flew off... my second sighting of that bird and her first...
