Yesterday (11-16-08) I make a quick trip to Rasor Farm in Carter
County TN (just outside Elizabethton), Little Wilbur, and Watauga Lake
at the Dam (also Carter County, TN).
Here is my list:
Rasor Farm:
Hooded Merganser 18
Green-winged Teal 6
Canada Goose +++
Mallard ++
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Bridge where you cross the river heading to Little Wilbur:
Lots more Canada Geese ++
Little Wilbur:
Buffleheads - ++
Watauga Lake: (from pull off just before the restrooms)
Raft of:
~45 Ring-neck Ducks
~5 Lesser Scaup
Also today (11-17-08) in Johnson City I had 109 Turkey Vultures come
off 2 big roosts on Tannery Knob (Washington County, TN). I watched
them gain altitude and then peel off towards Buffalo Mountain. I
assume they are still migrating??? There are a lot of Vultures on the
Iris Glen Landfill just down the road, but I don't remember seeing
that many.
