Dutch Bottoms & Ten Islands, on upper Douglas Lake
Cocke & Jefferson Cos., TN

Michael Sledjeski & I checked these areas this afternoon,
Dutch Bottoms by land & Ten Is. by motorized canoe.

Douglas Lake continues to fall, even as we were there.
(Some areas that we motored through going up lake were a bit too shallow
as we came back down, but we're only talking 6 inches or so.)

Shorebird numbers were down, but should be variable at this season.

Killdeer - ca. 150
Semipalmated Plover - 2
Spotted Sandpiper - 7
Lesser Yellowlegs - 5
Least Sandpiper - 45+
Pectoral Sandpiper - 18
Short-billed Dowitcher - 2

Ring-billed Gull - 1
Caspian Tern - 1
Great Egret - ca. 70 (did not watch going to roost, so probably more)
Black-cr. Night-Heron - 10+
Osprey - 7
