Carver's Gap on Roan Mtn
Carter Co., TN & Mitchell Co., NC
There has been a good flight of Rose-br. Grosbeaks, with 50-80+ daily,
and good numbers of thrushes, mainly over the last three days, with
100+ Swainson's daily (nearly 100 banded in 3 days).
Gray-cheeked Thrush (4 banded today) & Wood Thrush (10 banded today)
- - - these represent daily highs.
warblers during this period:
Golden-wg. - 1 banded on 23rd
Tennessee max 30+
N. Parula - 1 banded on 24th (station first)

Magnolia
Cape May
Black-thr Blue max 15+
Black-thr Green
Blackburnian
Bay-breasted
Am Redstart
Worm-eating
Ovenbird -12 banded
Com Yellowthroat
Hooded
also:
Merlin - 1 on 25th
Ruby-cr Kinglet - 2-4 daily
Scarlet Tanager - max 22
plus usual high elevation regulars.
note on Tenn Warblers: only 50-some banded thus far this season (below
average), in stark contrast to the record high numbers (800+) banded at Whigg
Meadow in southeast TN.
