[Bristol-Birds] shrikes, shrikes, shrikes on Glade Springs CBC

I talked with Ron Harrington a few minutes ago and he was driving home from
the compilation of the Glade Springs CBC. He didn't have the records right in
front of him but
it appears the count total for Loggerhead Shrikes is about eight (8) birds.
Tom McNeil's party
in Area E had four (4), our party in Area D had three (3) and Harrington's
party in Area A had one
(1). Andy Jones has our location list for our three birds and we'll report
that when we get a chance. We did record them as we went.

The Bristol CBC had 12 in 1966 and 12 again in 1967 but that was then before
the species had experienced its significant decline over much of its range.

One shrike highlight was a wood block print artwork given to me as a Christmas
present
this morning by Charlie Parker. We actually posed for a photo on the roadside
together holding the
framed art with one of the Loggerhead Shrikes perched just over our shoulders
in the photo.

Let's go birding......

P.S. Had a late report tonight that Fred Martin will be in Larry McDaniel's
party in the morning. That is another birder taking part in the Bristol CBC.
I was glad to see that Don Holt was able to participate today.
