[bristol-birds] (no subject)

Saturday, March 02, 2002, I went birding at South Holston Lake with Rack and
Carol Cross. We failed to find a few of our target species like Common Loon
and Horned Grebe, but we ended up with around 45 species for the day. Some
of my favorites were Winter Wren, Brown Creeper, Cedar Waxwing,
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, & Pine Siskin. Rack also saw the gray Eastern
Screech Owl in the box at Musick's Campground. Also of note, on Kings Lane
near the first sharp bend, we saw a flock of approximately 150 Brown-headed
Cowbirds, including in it a very few Red-winged Blackbirds that really stuck
out like sore thumbs whenever the flock took flight. Rack told me on the
phone that they were still there today, Sunday, Mar. 03.
