[Bristol-Birds] Re: lifetime of bird banding concludes

Like Bert, Ken, and many others...it would take a book if I could sit down
and write out all the good things I would like to say about Wallace. I guess
if I had to summerize everything in one word, it would be awe. I have been in
awe of Wallace for all the 20 or 30 years I have known him...and that started
from just about the first day we ever met. I am in awe of his comprehensive
and vast knowledge of the natural history (not just birds) of the region and
maybe even more in awe of the vast amount of time and energy he puts into
preserving and sharing his knowledge with others. I've been priviledged to
spend time in the field with him both banding, birding, and just walking or
riding around talking and have always enjoyed and profited from it. Although
you may not have all the time it takes to continue the banding...I'm glad
you'll still be around for all of us to come to when we have questions that
need an answer or just to listen to a good story.
