Last Wednesday, I found signs of life under the yellow-crowned night heron nest
on the gravel path at Sycamore Shoals Park. A good sized portion of a
robin's-egg-blue shell approx. the size of a duck egg was on the path, and was
not there the day before. It could be part of the same shell that Don Holt
found on Sunday following our summer count compilation meeting, but I hope
it''s a sign of a second successful hatching in that nest.

Yesterday there was another bit of eggshell on the path, and thought I could
spy movement in between the branches of the nest, but that may be wishful
thinking. Will keep you posted.
