[Bristol-Birds] Yellow-crowned Night-Heron nest at Bristol, TN

I had a telephone report, July 4, of a Yellow-crowned Night-Heron at a nest
with at least one fairly large young.

The nest is located in a pine tree along Beaver Creek, just off the Volunteer
Parkway in Bristol Tennessee, Sullivan Co. This is the first known nest of the
species in the Beaver Creek drainage of the South Fork Holston River.

A 3 p.m. appointment, today, to see the nest was rained out by a very hard
thunderstorm. The owner assured me he had double checked the adult bird today
at the nest and his description is right on target for a Yellow-crowned. I
have known him for more than 30 years and he has had a bird field guide for at
least that long. He believes there may be more than one young in the nest.

I will probably not be at liberty to report his name and address due to very
important privacy considerations that I am sure must be protected. So it is
doubltful that birders will be able to visit the nest. I hope to see the nest
in a few days.

Let's go birding......
