Yellow-cr. Night-Heron - - 2, at nest; this is a new nest site on the
greenbelt
along Reedy Creek, at the first foot-bridge downstream from Eastman
Rd.;
Nests at 2 other sites along this section of greenbelt are unoccupied
as of yet.
Great Blue Heron - 14 occupied nests below Ft. Henry Dam; at least 2 nests had
surprisingly large young for this early date; young were first noted
here on
group field trip on 12 Mar; note early date for nestlings in TN
Breeding Bird
Atlas is 27 APR (early date for eggs = 19 Mar).
Red-shouldered Hawk - 1 adult, apparently incubating, nest on greenbelt along
Reedy Cr.; this is a rare breeder in NE Tenn but this site has been
used
several years.
