Hey folks,
On Wednesday, 21 DEC 2005, Dianne Draper and I birded in western
Washington Co., TN. Some of the goodies we came across included a Loggerhead
Shrike, a Ruddy Duck, and a dozen Gadwalls on Pleasant Grove Rd., a Palm
Warbler
near Bowmantown Ruritan; and Horned Larks and American Pipits on Corby Bridge
Rd.
Adam Campbell recently posted a message on Butternut Naturalists
yahoogroup with a link to a picture he recently took of the albino Red-tailed
Hawk
near Snapp Bridge. Dianne and I went looking for it and found it perched in
a snag by a barn just south of the bridge. While viewing it, a large raptor
flew from near the river toward the albino Red-tail. When it got directly
over the red-tail, the raptor veered off to the side, and we could see that
it
was an immature Bald Eagle! We watched the eagle fly off behind a line of
trees, then looked back to find that the red-tail was nowhere to be seen. I
guess everybody was taken by surprise!
