[Bristol-Birds] Washington Co., TN Eurasian Collared-Doves, Ross's Goose

    The Bristol Bird Club held a field trip to western Washington County, TN 
today, SAT 20 JAN 2007.  Participating were Bill Grigsby, Don Holt, Reece 
Jamerson, and David Kirschke.  Highlights were as follows:
 
Snow Goose - 1 intermediate morph with Canada Geese by mansion/pond on Hwy. 75 
ca 1 mi. from Hwy 11E
Ross's Goose - 1 with Canada Geese by the pond on Bush-Hog Blvd.
Blue-winged Teal - 1, Bush-Hog Blvd. pond
Green-winged Teal - 10, Bush-Hog Blvd. pond
Northern Harrier - 1 crossing State Route 34 near Westview School
Sharp-shinned Hawk - 2, one soaring near Berryhill Rd., and one perched near 
Smithdale Blvd., Limestone, TN
Cooper's Hawk - 1 perched near Berryhill Rd.
albino Red-tailed Hawk - Snapp Bridge area
Wilson's Snipe - 5 at Bush-Hog Blvd. pond
Eurasian Collared-Dove - at least 2 on Smithdale Blvd. in Limestone, TN (I 
believe this is only the second sighting of this sp. reported from Washington 
Co., TN)
Great Horned Owl - 1 calling mid-morning near Henderson Marsh at Bowmantown
Red-headed Woodpecker - 2 on Stockton Rd.
Loggerhead Shrike - 2, one on Shanks Rd. and one on Hwy 75
American Pipits - ca 150 on Smith Bridge Rd.
Chipping Sparrow - the usual resident winter flock in Bowmantown
Savannah Sparrow - ca 10 near Berryhill Rd.
