[Bristol-Birds] Warbler Day on Compton Mt - September 13th

Birders of the Bristol Area,
It's once again nearing the time for Warbler Day here on Compton Mountain in
Buchanan County VA. This year Warbler Day will take place on Saturday,
September 13, which is about the peak of the warbler migration through our area.
Due to the large number of people who signed up to come to Warbler Day last
year (almost 50 though all didn't make it), we realized that we are going to
have to limit the number attending, so those who are here will have a pleasant
experience, and also to keep the birds from becoming spooked by a large crowd.
So, if you are planning to attend you need to let us know, so we can reserve a
spot for you on the list, as well as make sure we have enough food for the
group. Some of you have made reservations by e-mail and some of you we have
spoken to personally and you have asked us to add you to the list. Those who
are planning to attend and have not yet reserved a spot should do so within the
next week. There are only 5 or 6 spaces left, so if you are planning to attend
and have not yet contacted us, you should do so immediately.

Lynda and I look forward to seeing you here that Saturday, to once again enjoy
the birds with us. Some of the migrants that have already started moving
through the yard are Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, Baltimore Orioles, Brown
Thrashers, Blue-winged Warblers, KY Warblers, Yellow-throated Warblers, Pine
Warblers, Worm-eating Warblers, Northern Parulas, Scarlet Tanagers (in
non-breeding plumage), Red-eyed Vireos, Indigo Buntings and Blue-gray
Gnatcatchers. The number of species and the number of birds should pick up
dramatically as we get into September.

Enjoy the fall birds,

Roger Mayhorn
