A little birding time in Greeneville and western Greene County today, with a
trip to Knoxville and back in between--
Snowy Egret (Greene Co., Pottertown Rd. 0.4 mile from North Mohawk Road;
interesting observation: only 2 other personal Greene Co. records for this
species--May 15 (2000) and May 16 (1997));
Osprey (Knox Co., I-40 at Holston River)
Peregrine Falcon (Jefferson Co., I-40 at mile 420)
Willow Flycatcher (Greene Co., Hwy. 348 adjacent to Lick Creek Bottoms Wildlife
Management Area unit in Beulah community; this is the same spot where WIFL has
been observed sporadically by Ben Britton and me (and possibly others) over the
last few years; as with all Empidonax flycatchers, identification was confirmed
by vocalization)
Swainson's Thrush (3, Greeneville)
Canada Warbler (Greeneville)
Savannah Sparrow (singing male, Greene Co., Lick Creek Bottoms WMA unit in
Beulah)
