Wednesday, 22 NOV 2006, I observed the white Red-tailed Hawk that has been
living around Snapps Bridge in Washington Co., TN. It was soaring with a
normal plumaged Red-tail. The white individual soared above the other, and led
the way with an exaggerated rollercoaster flight, then dove straight down to
land in a tree on top of the hill between Snapp Bridge and Corby Bridge. The
larger normal plumaged bird, presumably female, followed.
I saw this white bird associated with a normal plumaged bird in the same
area at various times last summer (JUN, JUL, & AUG 2006). I had hopes they
were nesting, but I haven't found a nest or observed any fledglings.
