location: upper Douglas Lake at the TVA boat launch on Leadvale Road (Jefferson 
Co.) and downstream about two miles, mostly along the Cocke Co. shoreline but 
also including a couple of areas in Jefferson Co.

time spent: about three hours

Wood Duck (21, mostly young, Jefferson)
Double-crested Cormorant (12 Cocke, 1Jefferson)
Great Blue Heron (9 Cocke, 4 Jefferson)
Great Egret (91 Cocke, 8 Jefferson)
Green Heron (2 Cocke, 4 Jefferson)
Black-crowned Night-Heron (5 Jefferson)
Osprey (2 Cocke)
Bald Eagle (1adult, Cocke)
Killdeer (well over 100, Cocke)
Lesser Yellowlegs (6 Cocke)
Spotted Sandpiper (1 Cocke)
Least Sandpiper (39 Cocke)
Short-billed Dowitcher (7 Cocke)
Yellow-billed Cuckoo (1 Cocke)
Great Crested Flycatcher (1 Cocke)
Tree Swallow (10 Cocke, 3 Jefferson)
Northern Rough-winged Swallow (2 Cocke, 17 Jefferson)
Bank Swallow (8 Cocke)
Cliff Swallow (27 Cocke, 1 Jefferson)
Barn Swallow (86 Cocke, 45 Jefferson)

(Swallows and Killdeer were quite plentiful and difficult to count.  Numbers 
given are conservative.)
