Mark Armstrong from the Knoxville zoo captured and banded ³my² hummingbird
yesterday afternoon. It is, as I had suspected after watching it for days,
an adult female rufous hummingbird (Selasphorus rufus). The bird didn¹t
return to the feeder yesterday afternoon, but showed up at the feeder this
morning and fed on the fly (she usually sits). Hopefully she will relax
after a while. It was very interesting to observe the entire
capture/banding procedure.
