Reece Jamerson, Bryan Stevens and David Thometz took an early evening trip on
Saturday, April 22, to Musick's Campground on S. Holston Lake in Sullivan
Co., TN.
We saw all the terns (Caspian, Common and Forster's) reported earlier by Rick
Knight. Their numbers seemed to have increased. We had five Caspian Terns and
one each of Forsters and Common. But we also saw 2 or 3 small Sterna terns
flying around the mouth of Spring Bay while we also had the confirmed Forster's
and Common in sight.
At Musick's we also had an Osprey, Eastern Kingbird, Green Heron and
Blue-winged Teal (1 drake) as well as the 10 Common Loons (also observed by
Rick
Knight). We didn't find any of the grebes, however.
On the way to Musick's, we found a Solitary Sandpiper at the pond on the left
on the road entering Observation Knob Campground.
Bryan Stevens,
Hampton, TN
