[Bristol-Birds] Ross' Goose found in St. Paul, Wise Co., VA

Folks,
Went to Clear Creek yesterday, then to Nicewonder's Pond, then trekked to the
park along the Clinch River in St. Paul. At Clear Creek found the six Greater
White-Fronted Geese and one Ross' Goose along with a gaggle of Domestic
Graylags, Canada Geese (including one Canada Goose/Domestic Goose hybrid), lots
of Hooded Mergansers, Ring-Billed Gulls, American Coots, and a Belted
Kingfisher. At Nicewonder's there are a pair of Mute Swans, American Wigeons,
Ring-Necked Ducks, Canada Geese (including another hybrid), and Mallards. The
surprise of the day was at St. Paul in Wise Co., VA where I found another Ross'
Goose mixed in with the Canada Geese, Mallards, Coots, and sundry domestic and
hybrid rabble along with another Belted Kingfisher. Was able to get within FIVE
FEET of the Ross' Goose - totally awesome and really made my day. Got some
terrific photos that can be viewed at
http://www.pbase.com/rkretz/recent_photos. Talked with Dave Worley, who shared
that it might be the first Ross' Goose seen in Wise Co.
Enjoy the birds...
