Lisa,
I've been to Mendota about a dozen times during Oct and Nov. I never had a good
hawk day on those occasions. It is still possible. The best thing to try is to
time it with a weather event. One or two days after a strong system moving
through out of the northwest is considered favorable. Now is a good time for
accipiters. Redtails and Turkey Vultures should come later this month and into
Nov. You could also get eagles and other hawks throughout the fall.
I have had good hawk days in Oct and Nov at Hawk Mountain in PA and Cape May in

from church expressed interest today in exploring Clinch Mountain (I told them
there's not much up there, but it's certainly beautiful). I heard the red-tails
start migrating mid-October and through November, and thought my friends might
enjoy a chance at seeing them. Do you know have any experience seeing them come
through, or when the best target date would be? Are their numbers anywhere near
the broad-wings?> > Thanks for any tips you can share!> > Lisa
