While participating in a butterfly count in Greene County today, I found a Red
Crossbill.
The bird flew over a powerline cut on Viking Mountain Road about 3/4 of the way
between Highway 70 and Camp Creek Bald. It alerted us to its presence by
calling loudly as it flew. The bird was also heard by Jim Holt and Alice
Loftin.
