Recent birds at Steele Creek Park in Bristol, TN include

10/9/06 Dark-eyed Juncos by Jeremy Stout.
       Common Raven.

(11) Pied-billed Grebes, (2) Solitary Sandpipers, Spotted Sandpiper, Ruby-crowned Kinglet.

10/11 Green-winged Teal, American Kestrel with Jeremy.
Belted Kingfisher, Pileated Woodpecker, Palm Warbler, Yellow-rumped Warblers,
White-throated Sparrows.

10/12 (2) Pied-billed Grebes, Great Egret with Jeremy.
Great Blue Heron, Sharp-shinned Hawk, Cooper's Hawk, Blue-headed Vireo, House Wren,
Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Pine Warbler, Scarlet Tanager, White-throated Sparrows,
Red-winged Blackbird.

The Great Egret appears to be a park record. Many photographs were taken including those by a Bristol Herald Courier photographer Andre Tieg (not sure of spelling). It was fun watching Andre and Jeremy following the bird all over the lake in a paddle boat. Richard Buddine, another photographer, happened on to the seen and also took some pictures. Jeremy's wife, Jennifer also saw the bird.

The female Green-winged Teal appears to be a 2nd ever record for the park. One was seen by Joe Jackson in December of 1972. The (83) crows and (11) grebes were high counts for the park. The juncos, kinglet and sparrows were first of seasons for the park.
