[Bristol-Birds] Rankin report - 7/17

Rankin Bottoms, Cocke county, 7/17/08, by canoe
Douglas Lake elevation: 985.0

Reddish egret: As Steve Clendenen reported yesterday, the reddish egret has been staying on or near a log on the submerged riverbank. Mike Todd and I found it there in the late afternoon on 7/16, and Leslie Gibbens and I saw it there again on Thursday a little after 6:00 PM, and again at 7:45. It flew to roost with the egrets about a half mile downriver at 8:00 PM. The log is best seen from shore by driving under the tipple to the open view across the lake, looking to the right.
