[Bristol-Birds] Purple Finch, etc. (Greene Co., TN)

February 27, 2008

Greene County

I spent much of today at home because of inclement weather in Greeneville, but
I also got out to Wal-Mart Distribution Center (WMDC) and a few other areas
late in the day. Partial birding results include:

Wood Duck (4, near Tusculum)
Gadwall (10)
Northern Shoveler (6, WMDC)
Ring-necked Duck (6)

Great Blue Heron (8, WMDC)

Wilson's Snipe (3, WMDC)

Eurasian Collared-Dove (adjacent to West Greene High School)

Red-breasted Nuthatch (Greeneville)

American Robin (1501, all but 7 in flocks of a few birds to many dozen birds,
flying north between 5:40 and 6:20 this evening)

Savannah Sparrow (8, WMDC)
Fox Sparrow (Greeneville)
Dark-eyed Junco (4, Greeneville)

Red-winged Blackbird (100+)
Common Grackle (100+)

Purple Finch (21, Greeneville).
