[Bristol-Birds] Pine Siskin

Leaving the house of a homebound student yesterday in Kingsport, TN (6:00PM), a
flock of Pine Siskin began a wet but productive week-end of birding in Sullivan
County, TN.

This was the only evening all week that I had a chance to check on the beavers.
Of note, traffic has picked up in the area with Race Fans and Motor Homes. The
Whitetop Creek Park area becomes a camp ground for the Bristol Motor Speedway
Races.
It was too dark to see many birds when I arrived but both beavers were active
as I heard the Mallards settle in for the night. The two beavers were swimming
and diving within 30 feet of each other above the dam. I was treated to 2
whacks of the tail with huge splashes, both by the "smaller" beaver. This one
was swimming closer to the bank where I stood and they seemed like warning
whacks.

Leaving Whitetop, I called in a Screech Owl. Within five minutes, one continued
to answer back softly in the distance for another five minutes as the Chorus
Frogs kicked it up-a-notch and deafened the sound altogether.
